Charlotte Police Lip Sync Video Makes Top-10 List

CHARLOTTE, NC — This summer will likely go down in history for a lot of things, but perhaps the quirkiest is that it’s been the season of police officer lip sync videos, each aimed at topping all the rest. One week after creating its own video, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department already has bragging rights and has been named to a Top-10 list.

For the last month, law enforcement agencies around the country have been challenging one another to a lip sync battle in what's turned out to be a fun exercise not just for them but observers as well. The videos have shown a softer side to police.

The Top-10 list was compiled by a local station in Houston, Texas, which applauds the lengths officers have gone to to poke fun at themselves. “The trend might just be a publicity stunt, but some of the videos are really well-produced and feature drones, choreography, costumes and exclusive locations,” KHOU 11 said.

CMPD released a video last week. Set to the feel-good pop song "Can't Stop The Feeling!" by Justin Timberlake, CMPD officers from crime scene investigators and lab workers to motorcycle cops to CMPD Police Chief Kerr Putney got in on the fun, bopping, flossing and kicking their way through the video released July 17.
