Charlotte's Whisky River Voted Top Airport Eatery In US

CHARLOTTE, NC — Carolina cuisine has received a major nod on a national level. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Whisky River restaurant at Charlotte Douglas International was recently voted best airport restaurant in U.S., USA Today said.

The restaurant, located in Concourse E at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, was voted Best Airport Sitdown Dining in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards.

The airport’s 1897 Market in the Atrium was also acknowledged as one of the country’s 10 best restaurants for Grab & Go airport dining options.

Here’s what USA Today had to say about Whisky River:

“Whisky River, created in partnership with Dale Earnhardt, Jr., features an extensive food menu and a bar offerings for travelers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Those with a layover should try the signature drink Moonshine Mule made with Midnight Moon original moonshine, ginger beer and lime juice.”

Whisky River offers airport travelers a signature honky-tonk hangout vibe in a casual restaurant atmosphere, said airport food service company, HMSHost.

“Whisky River’s chef-driven menu is known for its simple, yet craveable dishes with regional flair,” HMSHost said in a statement. “In addition to great food and drinks, Whisky River adds Carolina-country style to the airport with belt buckles that adorn an entire wall, images of whisky barrels throughout the restaurant, rustic barn wood, stone walls, cowhide seating, and even live music from local musicians on the Whisky River music stage.”
