Coronavirus: Duke Energy, Piedmont Gas To Waive Late Fees
The electricity and natural gas provider is waiving late fees and discontinuing service disconnections amid the coronavirus outbreak.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas customers experiencing economic hardship due to the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak can expect some relief from the energy provider, who has vowed to waive late fees and discontinue service disconnections.
Duke Energy, which also owns Piedmont Natural Gas, said it would begin waiving late fees for its customers on March 21 and continue until the national state of emergency is lifted. The company is also waiving processing fees for residential customers paying by credit or debit card.
Earlier this week, Duke Energy also said it would not disconnect power for nonpayment, and allow customers extra time to make payments.
