Charlotte Apartment Fire That Displaced 130 Intentionally Set: Report

An early morning fire that took more than 50 firefighters to put out at an apartment complex fire in Charlotte was intentionally set.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- An early morning fire at an east Charlotte apartment building that displaced 130 residents was intentionally set, according to a report.

About 40 apartment units at the Woodscape Apartments at 5612 Farm Pond Lane were affected by the early morning fire, which took more than 50 firefighters about an hour to get under control in the predawn hours July 17.

The cause of the fire is believe to be arson, WSOCTV reported late Monday afternoon quoting Charlotte Fire Department officials.

The Red Cross opened a shelter for the displaced residents at 8 a.m. at Albemarle Road Middle School at 6900 Democracy Drive in Charlotte.
