Early Voting In Mecklenburg County: Five Things You Should Know

Early voting for the Nov. 7 election has begun in Mecklenburg County. Here are five things you need to know.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Early voting kicked off this week in Mecklenburg County for the upcoming Nov. 7 election, and includes candidates for mayor, town commissioners, city council, as well as the board of education.

We’ve compiled the top five things you need to know about early voting:

What offices are on the Nov. 7 ballot?
The Nov. 7 ballot in Mecklenburg County includes the mayoral races in Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mint Hill, Pineville and Matthews.

In Charlotte, mayoral candidates are Vi Lyles, who is running as the Democratic candidate, and Kenny Smith, who is the Republican candidate. The election will also fill sex seats on the Mecklenburg County Board of Education, eight seats on the Charlotte City Council.

Voters will also fill seats for Board of Commissioners in Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mint Hill and Matthews. Pineville voters will also select town council members.

How long will early voting last?
Early voting began Oct. 19 and will run through most weekdays through Saturday, Nov. 4. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7. You can find a calendar of early voting locations here.

There are numerous locations dedicated to early voting around Mecklenburg County, but not all of them are open yet. You can find a calendar and map of voting location availability here.
