Hail, Thunderstorms Possible As Cold Front Moves In: NWS

A cold front expected to stall out over NC could lead to afternoon thunderstorms strong enough to produce hail, forecasters said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — This morning’s sunshine is expected to give way to afternoon showers and thunderstorms Wednesday, with some storms in the piedmont of North Carolina possibly becoming strong enough to produce hail and damaging wind, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe thunderstorms are also a possibility Thursday afternoon as well, NWS said.

Temperatures are expected to cool off in the coming day. While Wednesday’s high is expected to be around 86, it will be closer to 80 on Thursday and Friday.
