Hurricane Irma: Charlotte Prepares for The Worst
Charlotte officials are making preparations as North Carolina braces for Irma's arrival early next week.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- As North Carolina braces for Hurricane Irma’s landfall early next week, Charlotte officials are beginning to lay out plans for the storm’s potential impact.
City officials are making plans for emergency shelters should they be needed, the city said Thursday in an update to its preparations for Irma. Charlotte Water is making preparations to keep continued delivery of water and sewer services during the storm event. The city has topped off fuel tanks, tested backup generators and has emergency response crews on-call to collect downed trees and debris.
City transportation worker are inspecting areas of Charlotte that are prone to flooding, and are fueling up their trucks, too.
