Hurricane Michael: More Than 100,000 Outages In North Carolina
Thousands of residences and businesses are without power as remnants of Hurricane Michael near North Carolina.

CHARLOTTE, NC – More than 100,000 homes and businesses in North Carolina are without power Thursday morning as the remnants of Hurricane Michael continues to cause trouble along the east coast. As of 2:01 p.m., 101,690 outages were reported by poweroutage.us, a website that collects and organizes data from public outage maps around the U.S. The outages seem to be concentrated around the west and central parts of the state.
A state of emergency has been declared in North and South Carolina, the News & Observer reported.
"Wind gusts of tropical storm force paired with heavy rain may lead to a few downed trees or power lines, especially inland. A few tornadoes are also possible across the entire area," the National Weather Service reported regarding southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina Thursday.

As of 7 p.m. Wednesday, one man in Gadsden County was killed after a tree fell on him, the Associated Press reported.
