List Of Mandatory Evacuations Expands In North Carolina
The list of coastal communities under mandatory and voluntary evacuation grows in preparation of Hurricane Florence.

NORTH CAROLINA — The list of coastal communities under mandatory and voluntary evacuation grew Tuesday as North Carolina continued preparation for Hurricane Florence. By midday Tuesday, the Category 4 storm was about 900 miles east-southeast of Cape Fear, NC and clocking wind speeds of 130 mph.
“We face three critical threats from Florence: ocean surge along our coast, strong winds, and inland flooding from heavy rain,” Gov. Roy Cooper said. “Wherever you live in North Carolina, you need to get ready for this storm now, and you need to evacuate if asked to.”
