Little League World Series: North State Heads To U.S. Championship Game

These kids have done it again. Greenville-based North State Little League beat Texas in a nail biter of a game Wednesday and are now heading to the U.S. Championship Game in the Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport, Penn.

North State, representing the Southeast region, was tied in the Aug. 23 game against their Southwest rivals, when a walk-off error pulled them ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning. They won the game 2-1.You can find more details about this exciting game here.

With a 3-0 record, North State is now ranked the No. 1 little league team in the U.S.

Wednesday's win came as no surprise to fans back home in North Carolina after they advanced in the playoffs after throwing a combined perfect game Aug. 18, defeating the Midwest regional champs from Sioux Falls, S.D., 6-0, and then beating the Western region’s California-based Rio Santa Margarita All Stars, racking up 18 hits and bringing in a final score of 16-0 on Aug. 20.

The 2017 Little League Baseball World Series for players 12 and younger will run Aug. 17-27 in South Williamsport, Penn. when teams from eight countries and eight U.S. regions vie for the title.
