Rock Slide Closes Down Part Of NC’s Blue Ridge Parkway
Heavy rains earlier this week are being blamed for a rock slide on the Blue Ridge Parkway, according to the National Park Service.
CHARLOTTE, NC -- A rock slide has closed down parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina following heavy rains that brought up to 6 inches of rain in the western end of the state over the weekend, according to the National Park Service.
“Travel with caution & watch for debris,” NPS said Feb 12, announcing the closures along the Parkway.
The park service posted a photo online showing the rockslide blocking both lanes near mile marker 277, north of Boone and near the Stoney Fork Overlook.

The National Park Service advised travelers refer to its online map for the most recent closures. In addition to rock slides, several segments of the parkway are closed due to snow and ice.
