Search Continues For Missing Charlotte Man

Charles Pfeiler, 48, left home riding his mountain bike Wednesday but hasn't returned since. Police say there is concern for his safety.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The search for a missing Charlotte man who went missing Wednesday evening resumed Monday in southeast Charlotte.

Police asked for the public's help locating Charles Pfeiler after he was reporting missing late last week. He reportedly left his home to go on a bike ride but hasn't come back or contacted family members since. There is concern for his safety and wellbeing, according to police.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, Pfeiler, 48, left his home on Ashton Gate Drive in southeast Charlotte on a grey Trek mountain-style bike, headed to an unknown destination. His family called police around 8:45 p.m. July 18 to report him missing.

“Asking the public not to go into the woods or brush areas due to environmental hazards,” Charlotte Fire tweeted July 23.

Monday’s search is a continuation of a weekend search that included 34 firefighters and support personnel. Sunday’s search, however, was cut short Sunday due to weather.

“Officials have tips from the public but are being tight-lipped until they have enough to bring closure to family,” a WCNC reporter said in a Tweet Monday morning.

Pfeiler is described as a white male, with a bald head and brown eyes. CMPD asks that anyone who has seen him or know his whereabouts call 911.
