Search Underway For Missing 56-Year-Old Charlotte Man
Eric Byers, 56, was reported missing Saturday, and a search for him is underway after his car was found along Interstate 85, police said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are asking for the public’s help locating a 56-year-old man who was reported missing over the weekend after his family found his unoccupied vehicle along a stretch of Interstate 85.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Eric Byers, 56, was reported missing Jan. 4 shortly before 2:45 p.m.
“Officers with the CMPD were contacted after family members located Eric Byers’s unoccupied vehicle on I-85 Northbound just prior to the weigh station near the Catawba River,” CMPD said. “Family members reported last seeing and hearing from Eric Byers during the evening of January 3, 2020.”

CMPD has initiated a search for Byers in the area that included officers, multiple canines, boat unites and CMPD’s aviation unit, however he was not located.
Byers is described as 5-foot, 6-inches tall and 180 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen in the 3000 block of Atlas Drive in north Charlotte.

CMPD said that anyone who sees or has information about Byers’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. The public can also contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or CMPD Detective Tuttle, who is the lead detective assigned to this case.
