‘What It Feels Like When Nobody’s Looking’: Anguished Mom's Video
Sam Davis of Charlotte has been missing for five months. His mother took to Facebook to beg for information about what has happened to him.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Looking into the camera, Carol Mejia could barely contain her tears. Five months ago, her now 26-year-old son Sam Davis went missing from a north Charlotte subdivision when he left his home with a skateboard. “This is a very impromptu Facebook live video to let you see what it really looks like to be the mother of a missing child,” she said, tears streaming down her face.
“This is what it really looks like to have a child who’s missing and not know where they are, to be absolutely worried sick all the time and not know whether they’re safe or not, this is what it really feels like when nobody’s looking,” Mejia said.
“I’m absolutely begging — if anybody knows anything about where Sam is or what’s happened to him — I’m absolutely begging you to please say something so that we can bring him home. People don’t just disappear,” she said through deep sobs. “I just miss him so much.”

Davis was last seen leaving a home on Poplar Grove Drive around 9 a.m. on the morning of Friday, June 29, according to his mother. He was last seen carrying a mini skateboard with green wheels, which he uses for transportation.
"He missed important family events and is not contacting family members that he usually contacts," CMPD said. "Mr. Davis is believed to be in danger due to statements made from family and friends."
Davis’ family have organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for a reward for information leading to his whereabouts and the circumstances of his disappearance. “We believe someone knows what happened to Sam and hope a reward will bring people forward with information and/or tips,” it said. “If the money from this funding is not used as a reward it will be put into a trust fund for his son’s education.”
Davis is described as a while male with blue eyes and brown hair. He is about 5-foot, 11 inches tall and 150 pounds.
CMPD asks that anyone with information regarding Davis' location call 911 immediately, or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
