Woman Shot, Killed In Crossfire As She Drove In North Charlotte
A 27 year-old woman was fatally shot in a north Charlotte shooting Thursday evening. Here's what police are saying about the incident.
CHARLOTTE, NC — A 27-year-old woman was shot and killed as she drove down a north Charlotte street during rush hour Thursday evening when she ended up in the crossfire of several men shooting at each other, according to police.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers responded to the scene of the shooting in the 2400 block of 28th Street shortly after 5 p.m., and found the victim — identified as Kendal Ryan Crank — shot inside a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, Crank was driving east on 28th Street at North Tryon when she was shot.

“Witnesses have reported that several male subjects were shooting at each other near the intersection at the time,” CMPD said. “It appears that the victim was not the intended target.”
Shortly after the shooting incident, around 5:40 p.m., a male gunshot victim arrived at Carolinas Medical Center - Main Hospital with a wound to his arm. An investigation is underway to determine if the injury is possibly related to the 28th Street shooting incident..
