• N.C. transportation officials celebrate Hurricane Helene recovery milestone (reflector.com) — State transportation officials say Hurricane Helene road repairs are nearly complete, and Chimney Rock is among the mountain areas where recovery work has been especially complex. Crews have rebuilt washed-out stretches, stabilized slopes, and used temporary bridges to reconnect isolated communities. Officials stress that while most state-maintained routes are open, some private roads and bridges are still waiting for repairs.
