• Haywood commissioners briefed on emergency flood sirens - (smokymountainnews.com) — Clyde residents now have a dedicated emergency flood siren as part of Haywood County’s new 18-siren warning system, installed after deadly flooding from Tropical Storm Fred and Hurricane Helene. If you hear the rising-and-falling “Hi-Lo” tone followed by “Climb to higher ground,” officials say to immediately head uphill on foot with only people, pets, and a phone, and treat it like a firefighter ordering you to leave.
   

• AdventHealth launches home-based hospice care in Haywood County (wlos.com) — A new AdventHealth home-based hospice program is coming to Haywood County, and Clyde resident David Francis says it will finally bring crucial end-of-life support directly into local homes. With state approval in hand, the service aims to fill a long-recognized gap in hospice capacity and could start sending nurses, aides, and chaplains to patients by early next year.
