2 Boat Training Courses To Be Offered At Freedom Boat Club LKN

CORNELIUS, NC — Boaters seeking to refresh their on-water skills, or novices interested in learning the ropes of boat navigation will have an opportunity to do just that during upcoming training courses to be offered the weekend of June 22 at the Freedom Boat Club Lake Norman in Cornelius.

The boat club is partnering with the nonprofit BoatUS Foundation and West Marine to provide the courses “Intro to Boating” and “Women Making Waves.”

The two on-water training courses will be conducted onboard a 21-foot outboard powered boat at Freedom Boat Club, which is located at 17505 W. Catawba Avenue in Cornelius.

Here’s what organizers say about the training:

The ‘Intro to Boating’ course covers shifting and steering, open-water handling and basic navigation. The ladies-only course, ‘Women Making Waves’ is the same curriculum, while offering the perfect opportunity to spend a half day learning boat-handling techniques in a supportive environment.

Both courses are three hours long and begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23. They cost $149 per person, however, organizers say there is a discounted rate of $119 offered for those who register by June 18.

Participants must be 21 years old.
