2019 Lake Norman Bike Expo: Location, Schedule
The Lake Norman Bike Expo is set for this weekend. Here's what you need to know to join the fun.
CORNELIUS, NC — The Lake Norman Bike Expo is set for Saturday, May 11 at the Bailey Road Recreation Center and will include family and community bike rides and more.
Here’s a schedule of events:
- 8:30 a.m. - Lake Norman Community Bike Ride On-site Registration (though pre-registration is encouraged)
- 9:00 a.m. - Lake Norman Community Bike Ride Begins
- 10 a.m. - Bike Expo Opens
- 10:30 a.m. - Family Bike Ride Begins

Lake Norman Community Bike Ride
Join the Cornelius PARC Department, Town of Davidson Parks & Recreation Department, and fellow community members as Cornelius Police lead a leisurely ride through Cornelius and Davidson. This 10-mile ride will start at 9 a.m. on Bailey Road at the recreation center (Bailey Middle School), connect to the Caldwell Station Creek Greenway, wind through the quiet streets of east Cornelius, travel down the South Prong Rocky River Greenway and loop back to Bailey Road, finishing back at the start at approximately 10 a.m. Anyone age 14 and older is welcome; participants ages 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are required and a bike with gears is recommended. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Family Bike Ride
Families with younger children wishing to ride should attend the Family Bike Ride beginning at 10:30 a.m. The family ride will be approximately two miles long, beginning and ending at the recreation center, traveling through Bailey Road Park along its paved multi-use paths.
Lake Norman Bike Expo
This annual event will feature bike demos from area bike shops, educational opportunities regarding bike safety and maintenance, and information about the best places to ride your bike in the Lake Norman/North Mecklenburg region. Cornelius PARC will have information on new greenways that are currently under development, information on our recreational programming, and maps from Cornelius's recently adopted bicycle master plan, Bike!Cornelius. Davidson Parks & Recreation will have their solar-electric Elf bike on display along with information on their recreational programming. The bike expo will be open 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
