Cornelius’ National Night Out 2018: What You Need To Know

On August 7, Cornelius will hold its National Night Out event at Bailey Road Park. Here's what you need to know.

CORNELIUS, NC — Police Departments across the Lake Norman region, including Cornelius, will be holding "National Night Out" community events Tuesday, Aug. 7 aimed at strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

For 35 years, National Night Out events have been held across the U.S. This year, an estimated 38 million residents in 16,000 communities are expected to participate, according to the organization.

In Cornelius, the police department is teaming up with a variety of community organizations to host the event in Bailey Road Park, that will feature children’s activities, food and entertainment.

Following the event, the Town of Cornelius will host it’s outdoor movie series, and will be showing Justice League on its blimp screen.

Cornelius Police Department will also be collecting school supplies during the National Night Out event. Donated items will be distributed to students at Cornelius Elementary, Bailey Middle and Hough High schools.

National Night Out in Cornelius will take place at Bailey Road Park, located at 11536 Bailey Road on Aug. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
