Cycleboats Land on Lake Norman

Cycleboats have arrived on Lake Norman for group peddle-powered parties.

CORNELIUS, NC -- For everyone who’s wanted a day on Lake Norman but can’t decide if you should go boating, biking or boozing, well the days of struggling with those complex adult decisions are over. Charlotte Cycleboats have landed on Lake Norman.

What is a cycleboat, you ask? They are pontoon-like boats with five pedal stations that power the boat. But relax, there is an electric motor backup.

Charlotte Cycleboats, which launched in late July, is based out of Waterstreet Seaport in Cornelius near Birkdale Village. The cruises last about two hours and accommodate up to 16 people, who can bring their own beer, wine and snacks.
