A phone carrier tech issue prompted Cornelius Police Department to post alternate emergency numbers in the event dialing 911 doesn't work.

CORNELIUS, NC — A widespread phone carrier technical issue in Cornelius has prompted the police department to post alternate emergency numbers should residents find themselves in an emergency and dialing 911 doesn’t work.

Here’s what Cornelius Police Department said Thursday morning:

“ATTENTION Cornelius and all other Mecklenburg County residents:
Due to widespread phone carrier technical issues, you may experience problems dialing 911. Please try to dial 911 in an emergency situation first and then if you are unable to get through, please call the following numbers:
  • Cornelius Police – 704-892-7773
  • Medic & County Fire – 704-943-6200
  • CMPD – 704-336-6327
  • Charlotte Fire – 704-336-3473”
