Davidson Event To Tackle Distracted Teen Driving
Teen drivers will have an opportunity to experience the dangers of distracted driving while texting in an obstacle course.
DAVIDSON, NC — Teen drivers will have an opportunity to experience firsthand the dangers of distracted and impaired driving at an upcoming event in Davidson that puts them behind the wheel of a car using a mobile device while driving through an obstacle course.
The Teen Distracted/Impaired Driving Event is set for Saturday, July 27, from noon until 3 p.m. at Ingersoll Rand, located at 800 Beaty Street in Davidson.
“Drivers often discount the possible outcomes when driving distracted,” Davidson Chief of Police Penny Dunn said in a statement, “and the number of injuries and deaths as a result is too high. By offering this course to younger drivers, we have the opportunity to give them, as safely as possible, a real life experience of what can happen when driving distracted. Hopefully, they will better understand the potential consequences of texting and driving after they are done.”
