Davidson Police Aiming To Expand Reach Through ‘Dog Walker Watch’

Davidson police are launching a new community watch program to encourage residents to report suspicious behavior.

DAVIDSON, NC — Davidson police are launching a new “Dog Walker Watch” community watch program that encourages residents to be act as extra eyes and ears for police while walking their dogs.

The first training session is open to 25 Davidson residents and will be held July 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom in Davidson Town Hall.

“Dog Walker Watch encourages neighbors to assist local law enforcement by acting as extra eyes and ears while out walking their dogs,” the town said in a release about the new initiative. “The program enhances the partnership between police and the community while providing resources for neighbors to be more aware of their surroundings and how to effectively observe and report suspicious activity.”
