The Davidson Police Department has received information from the Charlotte Field Office of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) pertaining to COVID-19 phone scams. Common fraud schemes include:

- Attempts to get your money- The IRS will NOT call for your ID. Do NOT sign over your check.
- Email phishing/malware- The IRS will never initiate contact with you via email to confirm personal information. Do NOT click on email links to update your IRS profile.
- Calls on the phone claiming to be the IRS and that you owe the IRS money.
