Davidson Police Launches DWI Crackdown
Davidson police are launching a DWI enforcement initiative for the next two months to combat football and holiday season fatalities.

DAVIDSON, NC -- Davidson police are launching a two-month DWI enforcement campaign and are urging area drivers to use ride shares before getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
The enforcement initiative, which is planned for the months of December and January, cover a time of year that typically has an uptick in DWIs, according to Davidson Police Chief Penny Dunn.
“Historically, DWI incidents and fatalities increase during the holidays and the football bowl season,” Dunn said.

“Public awareness of the enforcement initiative is meant to encourage the use of other options rather than driving while under the influence," she said. "Those who don’t, may get a ride share from Davidson Police to Mecklenburg County jail.”
