Davidson Police Partner With Ring's Neighbors App

DAVIDSON, NC —The Davidson Police Department has a new partner in the fight to keep people safe: You.

The department has teamed-up with the video doorbell company Ring, and is now member of Ring's Neighbors app.

The Neighbors app provides users with a way to receive and share video their Ring doorbells filmed and real-time crime and safety updates. Through the initiative, DPD can also submit video requests to help with active investigations in the area.

“The objectives of proactive policing include building beneficial relationships to enhance our abilities to prevent crime and inform our community about crime trends,” Police Chief Penny Dunn said in a statement. “Expanding our capabilities with our community partners, both residents and technology, helps us do both and solve crimes when they occur.”

Residents should still dial 911 during emergencies, police said.

“Residents need to remain aware and diligent in staying safe. Human intelligence and intuition far exceed the technological tools when it comes to personal safety,” Dunn said.

The Neighbors app is free and works with iOS- Android-, and FireOS-enabled devices. Residents can use the app even if they do not have a Ring doorbell.
