Davidson Police: Thieves Target Unlocked Vehicles In McConnell, Steal Car And Gun
A rash of car thefts, breaking and enterings in McConnell neighborhood lead police to urge residents to lock up.
DAVIDSON, NC -- Thieves hit Davidson’s McConnell neighborhood Monday night, stealing a gun, GPS unit and coins from 14 unlocked cars. A vehicle was also stolen from an unlocked garage with a key left inside it, according to Davidson Police.
The thefts occurred Monday, April 17 between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Police are asking anyone in the neighborhood who might have sidewalk or street view video to contact Detective Jay Stokes at 704-892-5131.
Police are urging residents to lock vehicles and garage doors at night, no matter the neighborhood.

The news comes as Davidson slides a spot in the rankings of the 20 Safest Cities in North Carolina by SafeWise, a home security system reviewer. For 2017, Davidson was named the No. 7 safest city in North Carolina, down one spot from the year before.
