DAVIDSON, NC — Davidson resident Adam Brown helped raise nearly $5,000 for people with disabilities through a Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity fundraising team project at the University of North Georgia, the school said.

Brown, along with fellow UNG student Jeffrey Michaud, led teams for The Journey of Hope, a project where students biked across the country this past summer to raise money and awareness for those with disabilities.

In the leadership role, Brown and Michaud were responsible for budgeting and scheduling. The pair raised $4,888, according to the University of North Georgia.

"UNG equipped me with the leadership ability to be successful in my position," Michaud said in a statement. "I had to make a lot of decisions on the trip as the project manager of the North team. I was in charge of the overall budget of the team. Being an accounting major, my professors prepared me throughout my years of accounting courses to manage a real budget. I am proud to say my team went under budget."
