Davidson’s Ben & Jerry’s Claims Manager Of The Year

Ben & Jerry's named Karen Toney as its manager of the year. She has managed the popular Davidson ice cream shop since 1993.

DAVIDSON, NC — Davidson is home to a new ice cream celebrity. Ben & Jerry’s named Karen Toney as its national Manager of the Year. She has managed the popular Davidson ice cream shop since it opened on Main Street in 1993.

Toney beat out more than 100 manager for the highly coveted honor, according to the company.

“Over the years, Karen has found new and innovative ways to grow the following for her community shop, making it a magnet for kids and families for multiple generations,” Ben & Jerry’s spokesperson Lindsay Bumps told Patch. “The shop hosts a number of benefit nights and other events to both raise money and awareness for deserving organizations. This past fall, Karen teamed up with Solace for the Children, an organization focused on bringing peace and human rights to children around the globe through free medical care in underserved areas.”

This is not the first time Toney’s efforts have been recognized by the company. She first won the honor in 2000, Bumps said.
