Davidson Polling Residents On Proposed Town Hall Project

The Town of Davidson is asking residents for input on a new town hall project under consideration. Here's how you can have your say.

DAVIDSON, NC — The Town of Davidson’s Board of Commissioners is seeking public input for a $16.3 million public facility project under consideration that includes renovations for a new town hall.

The commission, which is meeting Aug. 7, is asking residents: “What public facilities project option do you prefer?”

By Tuesday afternoon, the question posed on Davidson’s Open Town Hall, had brought in 45 comments, with 46.7 percent in favor of renovating the former IB School property for a new town hall and community space and renovating the existing town hall for use of the police and fire departments. About 13 percent of those who responded were in favor of building a new town hall in front of the existing property, and about 40 percent were in favor of "other" solutions.

Commissioners voted two years ago to move the town hall into the renovated IB School, located at 251 South Street.

The Davidson Board of Commissioners will use this public input to help guide their decision-making process at the August 7 meeting, the town said July 31.
