How To Rent Kayaks, Canoes In Davidson This Weekend

June is primetime for grabbing a boat and heading out on the water. Here's how you can rent one this weekend in Davidson.

DAVIDSON, NC — Want to get out on the water this weekend but don't have a boat? The Town of Davidson has a weekend watercraft rental program every weekend in June.

Every summer during the summer months, the town's parks and recreation department makes paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes available for rental at the Lake Davidson Nature Preserve.
In June, the rentals are available on Saturday, June 22 and June 29.

Here's what you need to know about rentals, according to the Town of Davidson's Department of Parks and Recreation:

Fee Structure:
$15 = Davidson Resident
$20 = NonDavidson Resident
Fee is per boat.

Rental Time: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Enjoy a self-guided watercraft adventure through Lake Davidson! We will provide you with paddles, life vests, and your choice of a kayak, canoe, or paddle board! To obtain these materials, please meet our staff at the Lake Davidson Nature Preserve (located behind Davidson Day School) at Rack Space "R". All participants must have ported their watercraft(s) by 5:00pm.

Participants who wish to walk up and pay on site are welcome, but registration is highly encouraged as it is the best way to secure a watercraft for rent. Please know that we have two paddle boards, one double kayak, one canoe, and six single kayaks for rent, so rentals are on a first come, first serve basis. Single kayak and paddle board restrictions:
• Fee is per adult. Children 12-17 are FREE when accompanied by a paying watercraft user!
• People age 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older
• People 11 and under are prohibited
• Participants must wear a personal flotation device at all times
• No pets are permitted aboard the watercrafts
• A maximum of one person is permitted at a time on the single kayaks or paddle boards

Double kayak and canoe restrictions:
• Fee is per boat.
• People age 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older
• People 5-11 are permitted in a double kayak with an adult
• Participants must wear a personal flotation device at all times
• No pets are permitted aboard the watercrafts
• A maximum of two people are permitted at a time on the double kayak or canoe

Refund Policy: In the situation that a participant can no longer participate in the camp/program for which he/she is registered, a request must be made in writing. If the request is made within a minimum of seven days prior to the camp/program, there is a $10.00 processing fee. If a request is made less than seven days prior to the camp/program, a partial refund can be given.
Once the camp/program has started, no refund will be given. If a participant would like to transfer to another camp/program, a minimum of seven days advance notice is required.
