DAVIDSON, NC — Davidson police are asking residents to report any suspicious behavior after receiving a report that a man attempted to entice a 12-year-old boy into his car Monday morning.
The Sept. 3 incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. while the boy walked the family dog on Lake Park Drive, off Davidson Gateway Drive.
According to a Davidson Police Department report, a man driving a dark blue or black car, possibly a Volkswagen, asked the boy to get into the car and go for a ride. “I’d like to reassure people that this is a rare incident in Davidson, but we are not immune from potential threats, said Davidson Police Chief Penny Dunn. “We believe it is important for parents to have conversations with their children about potential dangers in public or from those the child knows, perhaps in a position of authority or trust. Children should always let an adult know when something is wrong, inappropriate, or makes them feel unsafe.”
DPD asks that if anyone has information about this incident, please call the police department at 704-892-5131.
