Mecklenburg County residents have until Dec. 30, 2021, to apply to serve on the 2023 Citizens Revaluation Advisory Committee. The committee is responsible for working with County management and staff to review the overall operations and statistical reports related to the County's 2023 Revaluation. In addition, members will be responsible for reporting updates and conclusions to the Board of County Commissioners.
Individuals interested in serving on the advisory board must be residents of Mecklenburg County, and must be able to attend monthly meetings from March 2022 – December 2022.

County's Department of Public Health Offers Residents Another Chance to Triple SNAP Dollars at Dec. 22 North End Farmers' Market
Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH), in collaboration with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC and the American Heart Association, is offering County residents another opportunity to triple their SNAP dollars at participating farmers markets for this holiday season.
For each SNAP dollar spent at a participating location, individuals will be given three times the cash value amount in tokens that can be used on SNAP eligible items. SNAP recipients are encouraged to visit the North End Farmers Market, on Dec. 22, from 4-8 p.m. For more information visit: https://meck.co/3E37jhh
FY2023 Resident Budget Priority Survey Deadline extended to Jan. 9, 2022
The deadline to complete the Resident Budget Priority Survey for Fiscal Year 2023 has been extended. The survey will now close on Jan. 9, 2022.
The survey allows residents to rank eight categories funded by the County in the order they feel is most important. Residents can also provide feedback on categories they feel are overfunded or underfunded. Survey results will be shared with the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners during their annual retreat in January. Last year, 4,303 surveys were completed for fiscal year 2022.
The Resident Budget Priority Survey can be found on MeckNC.gov. Paper copies are also available in English and Spanish at libraries across Mecklenburg County, the Community Resource Center located at 3205 Freedom Dr. Suite 1000, and recreation centers across the County.

2022 Crowns of Enterprise Awards Nominations are Now Open
Nominations are now open for 2022 Crowns of Enterprise Awards sponsored by Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte.
The annual awards recognize and honor small businesses in Mecklenburg County that demonstrate exemplary leadership and sound business strategies. The awards voting committee strives to acknowledge and display the hard work and resilient efforts of local small businesses, illustrating the positive footprint and economic impact they have on our community. Nominations are being accepted for the following categories:
- Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) of the Year
- Certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) of the Year
- Certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) of the Year
- Prime Contractor of the Year
- Diversity Advocate of the Year
- Media Personality of the Year
The awards committee will be accepting nominations until Friday, Feb. 25, 2022. The Crowns of Enterprise Awards committee encourages the community to nominate a person or business for recognition. Office of Economic Development Announces the Graduation of the Inaugural Class of the MeckNC Business LaunchPad Program (BLP)
Mecklenburg County's Office of Economic Development capped a successful year with the graduation of its inaugural class of the Business LaunchPad Program (BLP). BLP is an exclusive, no-cost, 16-week program instituted and administered by Mecklenburg County's Office of Economic Development, in facilitation partnership with Central Piedmont Community College's Small Business Center.
The program is designed to help minority and women-owned businesses build capacity and competitive advantage when seeking to participate in government and institutional business opportunities, includes classroom instruction, subject matter experts, guest speakers, practical exercises, and participation in "real-world" workshops and events.

County's Public Information Department Nominated for Another Emmy Award
Mecklenburg County's Public Information Department has earned another Emmy Award nomination from the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Midsouth Chapter.
Josh King, a Digital Producer in the Public Information Department, was nominated in the "Graphic Arts – Motion Graphics" category for a collection of animations he created for various public communication projects over the last year.
The County previously received two Emmy nominations in 2019 for the Interstitial Programming and Craft Animation categories. Mecklenburg County is the only municipal government in the Midsouth Chapter to be nominated for an Emmy this year. Winners will be announced in February 2022.
