Neighborhood Meeting Planned Thursday For Proposed Hotel Near CSD
Davidson officials are asking for more community input on a proposed hotel next to the Community School of Davidson.

DAVIDSON, NC -- Davidson town planners are holding a neighborhood meeting Aug. 10 at 5:30 p.m. to hear community input on a proposed 115-room hotel slated to be built on Griffith Street across from the Community School of Davidson.
The neighborhood meeting, targeted at Westside Terrace residents, will be held at the Ada Jenkins Center at 212 Gamble Street in Davidson. “Residents of the Westside Terrace neighborhood are encouraged to attend to learn about the project,” Davidson planner Trey Akers said in a letter to residents.
The meeting comes less than a week after the town held a site walk and lunch presentation for the community Aug. 4 to explain the proposed project and get public comment. The town’s presentation made during that lunch may be found here.

The proposed hotel project includes plans for a four-story hotel with about 115 rooms, as well as retail space on a 2-acre parcel of land on the corner of Griffith Street and Davidson Gateway Drive. The site, however, is directly across the street from the lower grade building of the Community School of Davidson and has stirred concerns about traffic, parking and safety.
