Possible Severe Storms Ahead Around Lake Norman

More rain is expected this week, starting with possibly severe storms popping up Tuesday, according to forecasters.

DAVIDSON, NC — The sunny holiday weekend is behind us in more ways than one, according to the National Weather Service, which says heavy storms could move into the area as soon as Tuesday afternoon.

“Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected mainly this afternoon and early evening,” NWS said in a Sept. 4 hazardous weather outlook bulletin. “Cloud-to-ground lightning, brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds can be expected. An isolated severe storm or two will be possible, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat.”

Rain stays in the forecast Wednesday, but clears out by Thursday, which is expected to be a day filled with sunshine and a high of 90.
