With forecasts calling for potential snow, sleet and freezing rain in our areas this weekend, Duke Energy and Energy United are preparing to respond to possible power outages. Snow or freezing precipitation can cause outages due to the weight they create on tree limbs, which can break or sag onto power lines.
Duke Energy and Energy United have service crew workers, line technicians and other storm personnel available to respond to power outages that may occur this weekend.
Customers who experience power outages should call Duke Energy's automated outage-reporting systems:
Customers may also report an outage or view current outages online at www.duke-energy.com/outages or text OUT to 57801
Duke Energy will also provide updates on its social media channels to keep customers informed if significant outages occur:
PHONE: Call 1-800-EUNITED (1-800-386-4833) to use Energy United's Automated Support System.
ONLINE: Report an outage online by logging in to your Energy United Account. Customers can also sign up for outage alerts and receive real-time alerts of when power will be restored.
If a customer has information concerning the outage or would prefer to speak with a Customer Care Representative, call 1-800-522-3793.
