Town Wants Public Input On Proposed Hotel Near CSD Friday
This Friday, Davidson officials are asking the community to give input on a proposed hotel next to the Community School.

DAVIDSON, NC -- Davidson residents interested in learning more or voicing concerns about plans for a new 115-room hotel on Griffith Street should block off Friday morning. Town officials are holding a site walk and lunch presentation for the community Aug. 4 to explain the proposed project and get public comment.
“The developer hosted a public input session in October 2016, and their plans have evolved based on citizen feedback since then, so we plan to update citizens on the project and receive feedback so we can share it with the Davidson Board of Commissioners,” Davidson’s Planning Director Jason Burdette said in a statement.

The Town of Davidson will hold the following events Friday, Aug. 4:
- Project Manager Trey Akers will lead a walk of the proposed site at 131 Davidson Gateway Drive at 9 a.m., and will discuss the proposed plans and solicit public comments. It is open to all citizens. Meet in the parking lot at the corner of Griffith Street and Davidson Gateway Drive.
- At noon in the Town Hall Board Room, Akers will conduct a “Lunch and Learn” presentation, which will be followed by a public comment period. The session will be recorded and the video will be posted here.
The proposed hotel project includes plans for a four-story hotel with about 115 rooms, as well as retail space on a 2-acre parcel of land on the corner of Griffith Street and Davidson Gateway Drive.

The site, however, is directly across the street from the lower grade building of the Community School of Davidson and has stirred concerns about traffic, parking and safety.
