• Jason Michael Higgins, 48, of Forest City (rutherfordweekly.com) — Forest City has lost 48-year-old Jason Michael Higgins, a beloved resident whose faith and humor inspired many despite lifelong health challenges. A graduate of RS Central and Isothermal, he was a familiar face at Owls games, high school sports, and Second Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to his Rutherfordton church or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
   

• Frank Turner, age 88, of Forest City (rutherfordweekly.com) — Forest City is mourning the passing of 88-year-old Frank Turner, a longtime resident, master carpenter, and devoted leader at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church. His large extended family, many still in Forest City, remember his decades of service and faith. Friends are encouraged to honor him through memorial gifts to his home church on US 221A.
   

• Jimmy William Hefner, age 48 (rutherfordweekly.com) — Family and friends are remembering 48-year-old Jimmy William Hefner, a skilled dog trainer and Army veteran whose fiancée, Christa Burleson, lives in Forest City. Known for rescuing and fostering animals, he owned Off the Chain K-9 Fitness and devoted his life to animal care. A memorial service will be announced later by Padgett~King Mortuary.
