18th Fires Bde. Has A New Commander
The "Steel Brigade" changed command to Col. Bob Morschauser on June 30 as he preceded Col. Wilson Shoffner.

Pike Field played home for the large-scale change of command in which the two exchanged hands of the 18th Fires Brigade and expressed their heart-felt feelings for the soldiers and what it means to serve with them.
For Col. Bob Morschauser, this is not the first time he will be stationed at Fort Bragg. After serving as the liaison officer with the joint special operations task force in Afghanistan, he has returned to Fort Bragg. He also served as a battery commander and an operations officer with the 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment under different battalions; also as an operations officer with the 18th Field Artillery Brigade. For 24 years, the colonel has made his way through the ranks serving multiple tours overseas.
According to Morschauser, his most challenging command was when he led 600 soldiers under the 2nd BN, 15th Field Artillery which was a part of the 2nd Brigade, 10 Mountain Division in Baghdad in 2006 and 2007.

As for Col. Wilson Shoffner, he will be heading to Washington to become liaison to the House of Representatives. From there, he will act on behalf of the U.S. Army and its needs as he tries to find a buffer to allow better communication between the two.
Serving as the commander of the 18th Fire Brigade for over two years, Shoffner has led troops in everything from exercises in Korea to artillery support missions in Afghanistan.
