7 Places to Chill Out This Weekend

When temperatures soar, many families flock to the pools for family fun. And there are many choices in the community.

FANTASY LAKE WATER PARK

This six-acre man-made lake has a white sand bottom and looks like a playground for adults. With numerous rope swings, water slides and platforms to dive off from it is a good time. Of course Fantasy Lake Water Park has a kids' water area as well as beach volleyball courts, a picnic area and a concession stand. Today The Rock Shop Music Hall sponsors their summer concert series at noon featuring The Chris Cox Band.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Splash Pad

For the littlest ones not yet ready for the pool, the Splash Pad is a great outing. Enjoy the fenced-in pad area as water sprinkles from a rainbow of colored arches. Onlookers can relax under the shaded tables near the splash pad. The venue is open to the public, fun for all ages and great for photos. The Pad, at 500 Fisher St. at Christina Smith Park, closes on Sept. 30.
