A flash from the Light, devotional for June-July

The 23d Psalm speaks of God as our protector and provider.   The Lord is spoken of as our Shepherd in both the Old and New Testaments.  Believers are never seen in scripture as being  independent and self sufficient with no need of a Shepherd or guide for our lives.  He leads us beside the still waters, but sometimes we don’t follow his leadership; we stray; we leave the serenity  and peace of the still waters.  It is then that we experience the storms and uncertainties of life.  When we repent and ask His forgiveness,  He restores us to fellowship with Him. Even though we are as sheep He still treats us as honored guests by setting a table for us in the presence of our enemies. Too many people get wrapped up in a religion instead of a relationship with God.  Not saying we do not need to faithfully attend our place of worship; (Hebrews 10:25), just saying the Church is the people, the believers, not the building. Are you following his leadership?  How long has it been since you talked with the Lord.
