Base Guide Serves as a Resource for New Residents

Military installations world wide have a new resource to show newcomers what the area outside of post has to offer. This week Military.com announced the launch of their new online base guide for the Fayetteville area. Military.com serves as the nation’s largest military and veteran online news.

The Fayetteville area launch features installation specific guides for Fort Bragg and the Air Force's Pope Field, co-located on the post. The guides aim to engage the community as users with the ability to post information about the area and get feedback from other online community viewers.

Having the information guide in one spot allows the viewer online to ask questions and get answers from real people in the area on topics popular to the military audience such as housing, community features and schools. This forum will be a valuable tool for newcomers to the area and allow current residents to weigh in on important questions.

“Camaraderie is a touchstone of military service and our goal here was to bring that sharing of information and advice online, pairing it with comprehensive and continually updated information about facilities, events and resources on and off base", said Military.com President and retired Rear Admiral, T. McCreary.

The all encompassing guide includes a base directory of telephone numbers (both commercial and DSN), addresses, maps and links to installation services and resources in and around Fort Bragg.

"This is a living product," said Ward Carroll, editor of Military.com. "It's designed to not only provide important information in a hurry but to give members of the military community a place to share lessons learned with each other."
