Caregiver Retreats are an amazing blessing!
Caregiver retreats are a great blessing for any spouses taking care of there wounded warriors.
It was such a blessing to be able to attend the Wounded Warrior Project Caregivers Retreat last week, but now where do I go from here? If only I could run away to the beach every time I feel like I am going to explode. I have three beautiful children and a husband who will be forever scarred because of the things that happen in war. Many of Paul's "issues" came out of "hiding" years after he had been home from Iraq. I had no idea what I had signed up for when we got married and started down this path. Do not misunderstand me, I love Paul with all of my heart, but I wish I could have been better prepared for all of these obstacles.
They always say God never gives you more then you can handle, is that really true? I have a son with Aspergers who I struggle to communicate with everyday, a husband who struggles with his own scars on a daily basis, two beautiful daughters who are a hand full, and my own "junk in the trunk" issues. How on earth am I suppose to survive all of this without going insane?
