CrossFit Cult, Are You In?

CrossFit is all the rage right now and I did not want to conform to the craze, but join me on my 30 day trial to see where it takes me.

I always seem last to jump on board with trends or things that are overly publicized. For instance - it took me more than a year to watch the first Batman movie when it came out umteen years ago, now I'm an avid super hero movie fan.

I tried not to conform to the love of Apple products as well- in hindsight, where would I be if my head were not 'in the clouds'? I'd be forever lost without the handy built-in navigation system, not-to-mention the rest of the perks that keep me organized and multi-tasking for this job.

I'm pretty sure I was the last person in Fayetteville to sign up for a Facebook account, and I'm still learning how to leverage social media, but it has been fun.

This pattern in my life carries over to many things - my choice to gradually switch to organic milk, fruits and veggies, the whole idea of recycling and now it's spanned over to fitness.

Fitness for me means sweating, which is why running has always been a top choice. For me, it's a means to an end. Just one hour of cardio a few days a week, which can be anywhere, anytime and I can eat whatever I want. Lately though, like my routine at the gym, it's gotten boring.

After many testimonials from friends - other moms who have never been in better shape - including Rebekah in her last month of pregnancy, our family decided to give it a month long try and see what kind of results we can get.

I did my first 'Cindy' yesterday at CrossFit 910 and I put on a good show, because my instructor, Paige, was so cheerful and excited to share everything CrossFit with me, but I felt like I was going to throw up when I got back to the car. My poor arms could not even hold the steering wheel at the recommended 10 and 2 position, to get home.

I thought, 'this is what everyone is raving about?'. How do these places ever get anyone to come back? Nevermind that I could hardly walk down the stairs this morning.

I did a little searching online and found that the girl WODs are aptly named after females. I have a few theories on that, but I'd like to really ask the founders to see if I'm right.

In the effort to break my pattern of stubbornness and conforming to things that I eventually come to embrace, I'm moving forward into the CrossFit cult, at least for 29 more days as agreed upon with my uber-athletic spouse.

Why do you CrossFit? What is the name of your favorite WOD?
