Fort Bragg Cuts Can be Good for Families and Soldiers
Soldiers deserve to choose how they will spend their 4th of July, rather than staffing the annual ceremonies at Fort Bragg. I'm glad the show was cancelled this year, for their sake.
Everyone seems upset that the 4th of July celebration was cancelled. Of course, because it was free. Free entertainment. Free parking. One hour of quality free fireworks set to music.
Who staffs that free event? Fort Bragg personnel, volunteers and soldiers. Each year soldiers cannot celebrate the Fourth of July because they are tasked for duty. It's about time they get the weekend off to cook out at home or get away to the beach, without serving - at our expense.
Hope Mills has a fireworks display and now the Fayetteville SwampDogz baseball team has stepped up to provide fireworks and family friendly activities on Friday night.

Military families sacrifice time spent apart, many times on the 4th of July, at least these soldiers can choose how they want the holiday this year.
