Downtown Fayetteville has successfully reversed the image of its downtown area with a multitude of downtown revitalization projects that stem from the early 90s. New additions, such as the NC Veterans Park, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, the Fayetteville Area Transportation Museum, Fayetteville Linear Park and Fayetteville Festival Park have all contributed to the changing face of the downtown area.
You can start at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, for example. Overlooking the Cape Fear River, there is a lot to explore, including 77 acres of trails, an amphitheater and a 150-year-old farmhouse. Next on your list should be the Crown Center. It’s a great place to catch a rock concert, sporting event, Broadway show or stand-up comic. While you’re out and about, come check out Historic Haymount, the neighborhood overlooking the town center. It’s one of the oldest, intact residential areas in the South East, and offers one-of-a-kind antique shops and some of the most interesting marvels of Southern American architecture.
