My growing family recently moved from an apartment in Spring Lake to a single family home in Sanford. I loved the apartment community we just left (Stone Gate Apartments off of Spring Ave) but I was itching to have our own space again. With almost fifteen years in the Army, the word "moving" sends my husband running and screaming in the opposite direction. I'm almost positive he would rather rub his face against the sidewalk than think about lifting our what feels like 400 pounds king size Tempurpedic mattress again. He swears every time we have to move that we are leaving it behind.
I smartened up this time around. I didn't want to pay big dollars for a full service mover. Nor did I want to rely on the old stand by of having pizza and beer to entice my husband's friends and co-workers. I had a hidden fear that we would end up on moving day with just myself, my husband and our 9 month old. So I booked a 20 foot Uhaul (mental note, next time do more purging or go with the 26 footer) and then clicked the little box that asked me if I would like to price moving help. Why, yes, yes I would. I spent almost half an hour pouring over reviews of various companies and found The 08 Movers to fit the bill of our moving job. I specified that I would like two movers for three hours on the day of our move. Then I specified that the next day I would like two cleaners for two hours to help me get our apartment ready for its final inspection. Including the travel fee and a processing fee (the processing fee was returned to me upon reviewing my movers), my total for five hours of moving and cleaning help was $280. Let me tell you what 5 hours of assistance was valued at for keeping my sanity: PRICELESS.
Brandon Berry of the 08 Movers (google him, he is also a bull riding star!) called me shortly after booking online to set up times and to verify our address. The Saturday we scheduled our move, he called to let us know he was on his way. He arrived with his helper and after a quick sweep of our three bedroom apartment, he buckled down and got to business. In about an hour, our entire truck was neatly packed and stacked from floor to ceiling. He followed us the 25 miles to our new home and they unloaded our truck with quick precision. He expertly put my son's crib back together and offered to install our new washer and dryer. I did not hear any moaning and groaning about the weight of that blasted mattress. In fact, when he left that afternoon, I profusely thanked him for making our move "stress and bicker free."
On Sunday, Brandon and his wife came out to help me clean up our apartment. His wife went straight to the master bathroom and scrubbed from top to bottom. In less than two hours, we had all the baseboards clean, carpets vacuumed twice, tiled floors mopped, windows and window sills cleaned and both bathrooms sparkling again. Monday morning, my husband turned in our apartment keys and we passed our move out inspection without any problems.
Moral of the story: The 08 Movers made our move from Spring Lake to Sanford the most positive, smooth and stress free move. In one short weekend, we were 100% moved out of our apartment and in our new home.
