City of Fayetteville's Finance Department Receives Certificate for Excellence
The certification is the highest form of recognition possible in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The City of Fayetteville Finance Department recently was awarded a certificate for excellence in financial reporting. This is the sixth consecutive year that the department has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report or CAFR.
This certificate is the highest recognition possible in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada. and is awarded after the City's CAFR is judged by an impartial panel. The CAFR must meet high standards including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
In a press release from the City, Chief Financial Officer Lisa Smith stated, "The CAFR was completed for the second year in a row, fully in-house by Finance Department staff. Led by Elizabeth Somerindyke, the City's Internal Auditor, I couldn't be more pleased with the hard work of our employees."
