County Launches Local Government Cable TV Channel

Cumberland County has launched Cumberland County North Carolina TV (CCNC-TV) on Spectrum Cable Channel 5. CCNC-TV is also available for viewing through the county’s website at co.cumberland.nc.us/CCNCTV.

CCNC-TV offers informational programming about county government services, resources, and activities. The Board of Commissioners regular meetings will continue to air live on Spectrum Channel 5 twice a month and will be replayed at different times the following week. The board’s regular meetings are held the first Monday of the month at 9 a.m. and the third Monday of the month at 6:45 p.m. in Room 118 of the Judge E. Maurice Braswell Cumberland County Courthouse

In addition, the Board of Commissioners voted in December to begin live streaming their monthly Agenda Meetings from Room 564 of the Courthouse on CCNC-TV and on YouTube. These meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. The Feb. 11 meeting was the first meeting to air live and is now available on the County’s YouTube Channel at youtube.com/CumberlandCountyNC.

CCNC-TV features content produced by the Public Information Office, county departments and other local, state, and federal government agencies. In addition to governmental meetings, other programming includes COVID-19 information and educational programming focusing on the mission of County departments like Solid Waste Management in a video called “Where Does Your Trash Go?”

The Cumberland County Public Library and Cooperative Extension have created virtual programming during the COVID-19 closures for children, teens and adults. Cooperative Extension agents are featured in classes that are part of the Better Living Series and a cooking show called “Tasty Tuesdays.”

The new government access channel is replacing the Fayetteville Cumberland Educational TV Channel operated by Fayetteville Technical Community College. Content produced by FTCC and Cumberland County Schools will air on the new channel.
